KL SERIES BECKHOFF AUTOMATION MODULE
Beckhoff Automation offers a wide range of I/O modules under different series names, such as the KL (Bus Terminals), EL (EtherCAT Terminals), and BK (Bus Couplers) series. Each series is designed to meet specific needs in industrial automation systems. Here is an overview of each series:
KL Series (Bus Terminals)
The KL series consists of Beckhoff’s Bus Terminals, which are modular I/O modules used in decentralized automation systems. They connect to various fieldbuses via a Bus Coupler.
Key Features:
- Modularity: Each terminal is a modular component that can be connected side-by-side to form a complete system.
- Fieldbus Independence: With different Bus Couplers, KL terminals can be used with various fieldbus systems like PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet, and more.
- Signal Variety: The KL series supports a wide range of signal types, including digital and analog inputs/outputs, temperature measurement, and specialized communication interfaces.
Example Modules:
- KL1002: Digital input terminal with 2 channels.
- KL2134: Digital output terminal with 4 channels.
EL Series (EtherCAT Terminals)
The EL series are EtherCAT Terminals, designed for high-speed, real-time Ethernet communication. EtherCAT is an open, high-performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system.
Key Features:
- EtherCAT Protocol: Utilizes EtherCAT for real-time data exchange with cycle times of less than 100 microseconds.
- High Density: Compact design allows for a high density of I/O in a small footprint.
- Wide Range: Similar to the KL series, the EL series includes a wide variety of I/O types and functions, but optimized for EtherCAT networks.
Example Modules:
- EL1008: 8-channel digital input terminal.
- EL2008: 8-channel digital output terminal.
- EL3202: 2-channel analog input terminal for temperature sensors.
